Always looking for new places to eat sushi ? Here we found Café Sushi, located near riverside and the National Museum. It was recommended by Japanese people so I decided to try even if the name didn’t attract me…. and we were not disappointed. We were served by a nice Japanese girl, I guess it was probably the manager or the owner’s wife. Even if the restaurant looks really simple, there were a few Japanese customers, which already give a first and good feeling of the quality of the food. The Chef is Japanese as well.
We wanted to try many dishes, from udon soup to sushi rolls. So we tasted almost all! Every dishes are perfect for 3 or 4 people as the roll arrived cut in 4 pieces ( it should be 8 pieces though!). We started with salmon and chicken tempura (battered and deep-fried), it was great! (My pictures don’t look so tasty but it actually is!)
Then, we ordered many rolls and sushi to share with salmon, tuna or even rainbow. It was quite good and products are fresh. But in terms of decoration and creativity of the plates.. It could be improved.
I really wanted to try their udon soup as well, good but nothing special. The soup and the udon is good but there should be more choices in terms of meat or ingredients. But they are not specialized for this I guess! I will feature another Japanese restaurant for noodles soon.
However, the chicken teriyaki was yummy. Tender meat and with the taste of soy sauce, mirin and sugar, served with salad, perfect for the dinner.
Eating Japanese food in Phnom Penh is never cheap. We ended for more than 20$ per person but we have ordered a lot. It’s actually reasonable compared to the other Japanese restaurant. We tasted it, try it!
