Cambodian taste in One More Restaurant

What a great time we spent with our friends in One More restaurant in Toul Kork. With an impressive building on Street 315, a modern look and some plants on the terrace, One More Restaurant served Cambodian food in a clean and familial environment. The name is really confusing and funny, I had some discussion with people and when they said we can try one more restaurant, I was like : great, which one? One more, that’s the name!

The restaurant has a big dining room downstairs and different private rooms that can accommodate from 8 to 20 people. We started with some shrimp paste served with crispy rice cake, let’s say that it’s a kind of Cambodian appetizer. Then, we ordered amok, the Cambodian traditional fish cooked with curry and coconut milk, steamed in banana leaves. It arrived in a coconut shell, really nice and quite tasty!

Of course, when we went there with many people so that we can try various dishes. We ordered some spicy raw shrimps which is more a Thai dish I think. Personally I didn’t enjoy much as it was really really spicy!

We added some wok-fried morning glory, one the best fried vegetables in Cambodia, you can find it everywhere! I had some Goby fish in a sweet and sour soup with tomatoes, pineapple and lemongrass as well and clear soup with preserved citrus. I normally love clear soup –  guess which one is it in my photos… Why do I say clear? Because in Cambodia, you have two kinds of soups : Somlor, which is a heavy soup with a lot of meats, vegetables, curry and other spices… Local people eat Somlor with rice, while you can eat a clear soup alone.

For meat, we ordered pork chops fried with tofu and some spicy fried cockles… So delicious that I didn’t even have the time to take the photo that it was gone. You can also choose either you want to have normal rice or brown rice.

We ended with some Thai dessert (durian with sticky rice is my favourite!). You’ll spend around 10-12$ per person for a great Cambodian meal, a good value for money to discover Khmer products and specialties in a modern environment. I would recommend you to try this restaurant if you are around Toul Kork!

PS: Try the toilets downstairs, the design is really nice, they used bamboo as a tap to clean your hands!
