Breakfast soup at Pho Cali

Wow, since a few months I have heard a lot about this new brand Pho Cali in Toul Kork on Street 315… First, you need to know that I am a Pho lover as I used to eat this a lot in… Paris (not in Vietnam sorry, I haven’t been there yet but I plan to visit soon!). For those, who haven’t read my other articles yet, a Pho (pronounces as “Feu”) is a Vietnamese beef noodle soup most of the time eating as a breakfast. The broth is normally cooked more than 24 hours so we can get this strong beef bone smell.

I was really excited to go there, and … no regret, the Special Pho was delicious! It came with some extra Australian beef and egg to add ourselves in the soup… When the hot soup arrived, the first thing to do is to put the egg and the beef in the soup in order to cook it. Then, add some veggies and herbs such as soy bean sprouts, basil,  ma om (Khmer plant) and the best one for me : culantro, which is a kind of long coriander. You can add lime if you want.

Of course, don’t expect to go to a big and nice restaurant, it is a simple place with a few seats only. There are not many things in the menu except the Pho or the Special Pho (with the separate Australian beef slices), both in small or large size. So you need to like beef if you want to go there haha.

If you already know Pho, you will love it. If you don’t know yet, you should taste it! In Pho Cali, the meat quality (they said that it is a 100% Australian beef) and the taste of the soup are really good and I am not even sure now which one is my favourite between Pho Cali and Pho Fortune… Let’s try all again and vote!

Prices are really affordable, the small portion starts at 4$ if you are not really hungry while I ordered the Special Pho, large size, at 5.50$. Iced tea are complimentary. So this is really good value for money for breakfast or lunch.

I heard they opened many branches now, you will find below the other locations.

Taste it now!
